Paddock Wood

26th May 2010

A westward view from the footbridge reveals the arch of the road bridge, widened in 1991 to accommodate

the oversized containers of Chunnel freight. Escape lanes for runaway trains are in evidence, as is the 1961

prefabricated concrete extension of the ''down'' platform, on the right. ''Black 5'' No. 44871 is seen at the helm

of a circular rail tour of Kent. The Paddock Wood stop was used to take on board water: next stop Bromley

South and, ultimately, Victoria. David Glasspool

Looking towards Ashford from the footbridge, the prefabricated concrete platform extensions of 1988 are in

evidence. Class 375 No. 375623 is seen trundling into the ''up'' platform with a Charing Cross service, No.

375815 trailing at the rear. David Glasspool

The ''down'' sidings, once used by ''Transfesa'', were looking much tidier than when earlier pictured in 2004,

but no wagons were in evidence. In the ''down'' bay is Class 466 No. 466020, forming the shuttle service to

Maidstone West and Strood. It is evident here that a section of ornate canopy valance has been restored.
