Bulleid 4DD

Double Decker

No. 13004 has received repairs and general maintenance in Northamptonshire so today, the vehicle is not decaying further. In the above view, the water tower of the former engine shed can be seen at the top right. © Wayne Walsh

A fireless steam locomotive, often found on the railway networks of paper mills, was keeping Bulleid's unit company. Much of the engine shed's roof had fallen down, but three retaining walls remained standing. Reduced to three vehicles, the No. 4902 was still an impressive spectacle, with its very chunky carriages. © Wayne Walsh

A platform run-in board for ''Bishop's Stortford'' can just be seen at the far end of driving vehicle No. 13003, at the back of the ex-engine shed. As mentioned in the main text, trailer No. 13503, as seen on the right, was cut up not long after these photographs were taken, and today it seems No. 13003 is decaying towards its own extinction. © Wayne Walsh
