Class 465/466

Kent Link Networker

12th August 2004

By the time of this view, Class 465 and 466 units had started to receive sloped buffer covers. No. 466037 is seen passing through Stone Crossing non-stop, trailing on the rear of a Charing Cross to Higham service. This was the year of the Higham/Strood Tunnel closure, thus North Kent Line services went no further than Higham. © David Glasspool

A sparkling No. 465202, recently re-painted (or perhaps plastered with vinyl) is seen in one of the bay platforms at Orpington. The livery was inspired by the new scheme launched on the Class 375 ''Electrostar'' units from 1999 onwards. The first ''Networkers'' received the colours in 2002. © David Glasspool

No. 465171 is depicted on the approaches to London Victoria, in the company of a Class 466, thought to be forming the hourly service from Dartford via Bexleyheath and Nunhead. © David Glasspool

Still looking resplendent in NSE colours, No. 465004 is seen at Dartford after terminating with the service from Victoria via Bexleyheath. The traditional canopy seen in the background (albeit with renewed valance) and its associated platform are the sole remnants of the original Dartford station, which succumbed in 1972. © David Glasspool
