Dover Priory

21st June 2007

Three northward-facing carriage sidings remain to the west of the platforms in this 21st June 2007 view. Originally, only the overgrown siding nearest the platform was designated for carriages: the additional two have been absorbed from the now closed goods yard, which at its peak had four tracks (including those mentioned). Most carriage storage took place on the opposite side of the running lines, behind the signal box, where a trio of northern-facing sidings were in evidence. These were decommissioned in April 1969, the site, typically, being converted into a car park. © David Glasspool
