The arrival from Brussels is still in view. Behind the formation is the steadily-ascending connection with the North Kent Line. In the background can be seen the roof tops of the high-density housing which has been built in connection with the ''Thames Gateway'' development scheme. © David Glasspool

The 12:44 service to Paris is seen departing Ebbsfleet in the low winter sun. This view shows to good effect the vast number of saplings which have been planted alongside the lines here. The same practice was implemented during the landscaping of Dollands Moor and Cheriton Shuttle Terminal. © David Glasspool

A view across the international lines shows the North Kent Line connection in the middle-distance and, in the background, Northfleet station, complete with the SER's wooden building of 1891 origin. The overgrown area in front of the station site holds the remains of Blue Circle's cement sidings. © David Glasspool
