Exeter St David's

May 1991

Platforms 1 and 3 served Waterloo trains from 1985 onwards. The re-signalling severed the direct connection between the Exeter Central spur and St David's station's platform 4. In addition, the centre road between platform Nos. 1 and 3 was lifted, and the gap left behind can be seen in the above photograph. In view are a pair of Class 50s in revised Network SouthEast livery, which remained on Waterloo to Exeter services until spring 1992. © David Glasspool Collection

After the closure of the freight avoiding lines and Exeter Goods Yard Box on 25th February 1978, those sidings to the west of the station were permanently cut in half by the road which intercepts the running lines at Red Cow Crossing. This southward view shows the area around the former engine shed, now known as ''Old's View Depot''. In evidence are two Class 150 units, the nearest being No. 150245. © David Glasspool
