The "Thames" end of the yard is in evidence here, this view including the shed seen on the track diagram, in addition to the moving cranes and a series of French-designed diesel shunters. The cranes were used to load new track sections onto flat-bed wagons for transportation to various parts of the site. © David Glasspool
Freightliner Class 66 diesel-electrics were used to haul the track-laying formations in and out of the yard. That in view can be seen on the slope of the approaches to the Thames Tunnels. © David Glasspool
