Photograph 6: Following on from Photograph 5, this view still depicts the same chalk pit, but we are now at its eastern end. The surface of the rails can be seen emerging from the vegetation just right of centre. Also of note, in the background, is a timber gate closed against the line. © David Glasspool Collection

Photograph 7: An eastward view across the former chalk pit expanse shows the now undulating land, a result of landfill. The sloping hill which dominates the background is the area which once accommodated both the Stone Court Chalk Works and the most easterly chalk pit of the Kent Works. © David Glasspool

Photograph 8: Cotton Lane is behind the camera and Littlebrook Power Station is in the distance in this north westerly view. This site, again now in-filled, once hosted the Kent Works' most westerly chalk pits, which were reached by tunnelling the railway under the road. © David Glasspool
