Ryde St Johns Road
A southward view from the footbridge at Ryde St Johns Road on 13th June 2006 reveals the
1901 signal box, which was at Waterloo Junction for a quarter of a century. Of all timber
construction to save weight when originally suspended across the tracks, it was dismantled
during the re-signalling of the Charing Cross and London Bridge areas, its components
subsequently being shipped across the Solent. David Glasspool
