Sway

Since the 1977 view, the timber windbreaks had been renewed without glazing and the waiting area that backed onto the "down" canopy had gone. Removal of the latter permitted an enlarged car park. Both platforms have step-free access from their respective approach roads. The footbridge was a later addition to the station. © David Glasspool

The architecture employed at Sway was a variation of a standard design, buildings with similar features being evident at New Milton, Hinton Admiral, Swaythling, and Swanwick, as well as other sites. The single-storey section on the right is the booking hall; the two-storey-high section to the left is the former Station Master’s house; finally, further left, is a private house built as an extension to the original building in about 1988. © David Glasspool
