The new through station came into use on 2nd July 1926 in conjunction with the double-track Thanet spur to Margate via Broadstairs. Ramsgate Town and Harbour stations subsequently closed. Two spacious island platforms were produced, and trains on the ex-SER route no longer had to undertake a reversal manoeuvre at Ramsgate Town. © David Glasspool

The heavy lift shop and eight sidings were abolished in 2006, to allow the construction of a five road maintenance depot. This was designed to maintain the existing Class 375 ''Electrostar'' stock, but also to provide overnight stabling facilities for Hitachi ''Javelin'' stock. The new 8000 cubic metre depot can be seen on the right, the engine shed extension in the centre, whilst the carriage cleaning shed is in evidence on the left. © David Glasspool

A staff mess room, of clapboard construction, can be found adjacent to those sidings which were laid in conjunction with the Kent Coast Electrification Scheme, on the former track bed of the Ramsgate Town branch. © David Glasspool
