Tunbridge Wells West
Central Division
March 1989
Another eastern view of the site in March 1989, showing both the station building and goods shed. The station originally had a total of five platform faces, including two bay platforms, and the area shown in the picture was formerly occupied by a double track, this of which converged to single track just before the eastern signal box.© Mike Glasspool

Compare this scene with that in the first picture on the second page. The E1 Class engine has disappeared, and instead, sleepers are stacked up in its place. Interestingly, this March 1989 view indicates that the bay platform lines are still in situ, albeit severely rusted. The signal gantry no longer has its semaphore arms, and frames the west signal box. Both of these artifacts were obliterated as a result of redevelopment work. © Mike Glasspool

The island platform canopy had long since gone by the time of this photograph, but the station building's canopy, although severely truncated, was still in evidence. The intricate valance had been sawn off. On the island platform, to the right, can be seen the subway entrance, by this time boarded over. © Mike Glasspool
