No. 1006 managed to derail itself at the eastern end of Hastings station. The power car can be seen dislodged from the rails, underneath the lattice bridge. Sidings at Tonbridge, Hastings, and Grove Park were used to stable the DEMU stock overnight. © David Glasspool Collection

No. 1005 is seen trundling into platform No. 3 at Tonbridge. The flat sides are seen to good effect, these being necessary to ensure the stock physically fitted through the narrow tunnels between Tunbridge Wells and Hastings. © David Glasspool Collection
