26th April 1986

No. 1035 (formerly a ''6B'', by then a ''5L'') is seen at Charing Cross' platform 5, shortly after arrival from Hastings - the driver has already rotated the headcode blinds to red, for the return journey. Of interest in this view is the terminus' SE&CR lattice trainshed roof, demolition of which was shortly to follow to make way for the construction of a huge office block over the platforms. © David Glasspool Collection
