Cliffe Gravel Works
3rd July 1999
At the beginning of the walk to the gravel works, we see that a farmer has utilised a duo of redundant ventilated van bodies to provide storage in a field. This field is located on the Higham side of the level crossing in the next picture. © Mike Glasspool

Beyond the ventilated van bodies exists this level crossing, 1¼-miles from Hoo Junction (which is to the left) and 370-yards from the divergence of the Cliffe branch from that to Grain (to the right). © David Glasspool

Here, we view the branch gently curving as it heads east. On the horizon is the two-aspect colour light which controls the junction where the Cliffe spur leaves the branch to Grain. © David Glasspool

On the ''Thames'' side of the line, here we view the junction for Cliffe and Grain. The branch for the latter continues behind the colour light post, whilst our branch to Cliffe is in the foreground. The sign immediately below the colour aspect lights states ''Commencement of Token section''. A gate is in evidence which can be used to close off the Cliffe spur, but on this occasion it was open. No traffic was booked to run on this Bank Holiday. © David Glasspool
