Station Reconstruction
2nd June 2012
New platform offices on the ''up'' island and a temporary footbridge are seen taking shape during a rather wet June of 2012. The closure of the existing station building required a new entrance to the platforms, whilst rebuilding work took place. © David Glasspool
23rd July 2012
The 23rd July was the final day for the old station building. That afternoon, the existing station entrance was closed, and the temporary footbridge was brought into use. The latter comprises a metal frame, clad with corrugated metal - in here exist the ticket barriers. A scaffold decking then extends across to the ''up'' island, supported upon the new platform offices. The existing footbridge is still used for passage between the platforms.© David Glasspool

Dartford at dusk. The temporary footbridge provides an interesting ''high-level'' view of the tracks and platforms, which has not been possible since the SE&CR footbridge was taken down as part of the 1972/1973 rebuilding. © David Glasspool

The former ticket hall had mostly been stripped of its cladding when seen on the morning of 7th September 2012. The structure had completely disappeared by the end of the month. The building had temporarily re-opened over the weekend of 18th/19th August 2012 for passenger use. © David Glasspool
