On an absolutely foul December day, the framework of the new main building is seen at a quite advanced state. The ground floor slab for this building, made from over 200m³ of concrete, was completed on 13th November, allowing erection of the steel frame to begin. © David Glasspool

The first part of the steel frame to go up was that which wraps around the existing footbridge's southern lift tower. The glass office block on the right will eventually be demolished. © David Glasspool

A view from the south shows the curved profile of the new façade and that the southern end of the footbridge has been engulfed by the steel framework. Completion of works is earmarked for September 2013, so there is still some way to go. © David Glasspool

This is a London-bound view from the temporary staircase on platforms 1 and 2. At the foot of the stairs are the signs of recent platform office demolition work. On the left, we again see the new structure taking shape, and the interim ticket office. © David Glasspool
