Dover Western Docks
21st June 2007
A general overview looking out to sea reveals the extent of the Western Docks. The train ferry dock basin of 1936, just right of centre, has for long been infilled, and is now host to a sand operation. The lorries are parked upon the former track bed of the route from Dover Priory. The huge Lord Warden Hotel and the terminus are obvious on the right. © David Glasspool

Shifting to the right of the previous view, this second photograph includes the former station building of the LC&DR's ''Dover Harbour'' station, at the very bottom. The retaining wall which formerly supported the triangular-shaped trainshed can just be seen on the far side elevation. The Lord Warden Hotel has recently undergone a cosmetic restoration. © David Glasspool

With cars parked inside and out of the former station building, and a cruise liner ship stabled along side, the ex-SE&CR terminus is seen undertaking its new shipping role. The 455-foot-long footbridge which straddled the tracks from Folkestone can just be seen in-between the trainshed and Lord Warden Hotel. © David Glasspool
