Hastings

A westward view shows the rebuilt station, now with just one footbridge. A berthing siding remains alongside

bay platform 1. Note that the canopies are now V-shaped, rather than W-shaped, a characteristic they lost

long before the 2003 rebuild. David Glasspool

Looking from the western end of platform 2, it is possible to see right through the 788-yard-long Hastings Tunnel

to St Leonards Warrior Square, where the light of a train can be picked out. The fenced off area on the left, just

beyond the bridge span, was formerly host to timber mess huts, which included the top half of the former West

Yard Signal Box. These huts were broken up in 1985. David Glasspool
