Since the photographs seen on the first page of this section were taken, the southern side of the station has been completely transformed. The substantial brick wall of the trainshed along St Thomas Street has completely disappeared and, in its place, the curved steelwork of the new design has emerged. © David Glasspool

The main construction site offices can be found along St Thomas Street, beside the railway viaduct. They have been named ''Beazley House'', after Samuel Beazley, formerly the South Eastern Railway's architect. Gravesend and Erith stations survive as fine examples of Beazley's work. © David Glasspool

The main grand entrance to ''The Shard'' is located on St Thomas Street, where access to the hotel, restaurants, and bars, is made. Entry to the offices housed within the skyscraper is afforded through a separate, dedicated entrance on the station forecourt. © David Glasspool

The concourse façade has now gained ''London Bridge Station'' text. The scene of desertion was a result of the terminal platforms being completely closed for major engineering works. © David Glasspool
