London Bridge Rebuilding Works
Thameslink Programme

There was much hustle and bustle on the terminus approaches, track laying being in progress. The Class 66 in the background is believed to be No. 66169. Further down the line were a pair of ''Colas Rail'' Class 66s, a GBRf Class 66, and two Electro-Diesels. © David Glasspool

The signal box will be the only part of the 1970s station to survive the current rebuilding works. By this time, some of the new platforms had been taken to a point further south east than those of the existing ''through'' station. © David Glasspool

The closure of the station for over a week, starting from the August Bank Holiday, has seen new platform and canopy construction works gather apace. There still remained some sorry remains of the trainshed wall alongside platform 8, right of centre, but sadly the rest was no more. © David Glasspool

There remained a decent crowd on the ''through'' platforms at 19:21, nearing the end of the evening rush hour. However, it was noticeably quieter without those services which used the adjacent terminal platforms, not to mention the absence of ''Thameslink'' trains. On the right, we can see the footbridge's physical connection with the ex-SER offices in Tooley Street. © David Glasspool
