Fast-forwarding to the subsequent summer, this eastbound view shows that former platform Nos. 5 and 6 have been demolished and, as a result, the footbridge truncated. Platform 4, from where this photograph was taken, is also no longer in use, hence the ''Do Not Alight Here'' signs. © David Glasspool
The demolition of the southern-most island has resulted in that track which formerly served platform No. 5 being slewed at its western end. It now crosses that bridge span once used by the track from platform 6. The remains of the subway entrance from the demolished island can be seen in the fork of the diverging tracks. © David Glasspool
The dark grey barricade on the left-hand side of this westward view hides new platform construction on the former site of the demolished island. Rebuilding of the remaining northern side of the "high-level" station, encompassing the two islands formed of platform Nos. 1 to 4, is scheduled to commence in August 2016. © David Glasspool
The eastern approaches to London Bridge have become home to top-and-tailing Class 66 formations, which are now a familiar feature of the commuting landscape. There were two such trains in evidence on this day, both powered by Freightliner Class 66 diesel-electrics. The locomotive nearest the camera is No. 66522, alongside a sea of orange high-visibility vests as work progresses on re-arranging the station's throat. © David Glasspool
