The entrance on the northern side of the line was even more unassuming, being no more than an opening at the end of the footbridge. An improved entrance here was completed in 2021. © David Glasspool
A London-bound view from the public footbridge shows four lines continuing heading towards St Mary Cray, compared to the double-track of the photograph from 1954. On the right can be seen a section of the concrete retaining walls built during widening, these of which were used to strengthen the cutting and minimise the smooth of adjacent land required for excavation. The bridge in the background carries the A20. © David Glasspool
Save for details such as lampposts, the station had changed little at platform level since opening in 1939. The station sits upon a 1 in 100 gradient, ascending towards the capital. This is a coast-bound view. © David Glasspool
A new Ticket office on the “up” side came into use during 2021, complete with blue tiling reminiscent of London Underground stations. The previous ticket office building still sits behind the new structure. © David Glasspool
