A fully enclosed corrugated footbridge, complete with lift shafts, connects the isolated ticket hall with the platforms. Road vehicles once approached the station from the west, on an incline behind the camera. Road access is now at the eastern end of the layout, by a new incline carved into the former goods yard approaches. © David Glasspool

Taken from virtually the same spot as the 1960 photograph on the first page, it is all change at Dartford. The splendid SER and SE&CR canopies have been replaced by CLASP waiting rooms and corrugated metal covers, and the main station building has given way to a fourth track. Class 465 No. 465170 has arrived at platform 3 from Victoria in this westward view. © David Glasspool
