Tonbridge West Yard was the setting for this view of No. 47535, which wears the popular BR ''Large Logo'' livery. In 1990, the locomotive was absorbed into the Parcels Sector of BR (re-branded ''Rail Express Systems in 1991) and received a new red and black colour scheme. It ended its days in this livery until withdrawal in November 2002. © Wayne Walsh

1989

InterCity Swallow-liveried No. 47586 ''Northamptonshire'' is observed departing Margate with a Cross Country service from the Midlands: final stop Ramsgate. Immediately behind the locomotive is an air-conditioned BR Mk 2 coach; the rest of the formation is comprised of earlier model BR Mk 2a vehicles. © John Horton
