We are now looking back in the opposite direction towards the passing loop. In the foreground are the lines splitting into sidings the gravel works yard. The wooden sleepers laid across the lines allow vehicular access to and from the site. © David Glasspool

Now we get to the works itself. The three lines from the previous picture are seen here diverging into the complex, the outer two tracks occupied by lines of Brett hopper wagons. These lines lead to apparatus designed to fill wagons with the gravel dredged from the Thames. © David Glasspool

The tower structure left of centre serves the two tracks occupied by the Brett hopper wagons. The third line on the far left splits into a further three lines, these of which also have wagon-filling apparatus, but not for the hopper variety, as will soon be seen. © David Glasspool
