Station Reconstruction
29th March 2013
The former Goods Shed, which had been used as a staff mess room since the 1970s station rebuild, still presented a tidy appearance in this March view, a few months before being flattened. When demolished, rails were still evident underneath. © David Glasspool

The white plastic sheeting gave the new framework some shape, but there was still a long way to go. The pathway in front of the new structure led to the temporary ticket office, which can be seen on the right. © David Glasspool

The demolition of ''The Railway Hotel'' pub was in full swing at the end of March, a sad sight for a long-running establishment. Much of the rubble was used to fill in the large cellar, which was uncovered after the walls were fully taken down. © David Glasspool
26th November 2013
It was heartening to see the one remaining part of the pre-1973 station, the ex-SE&CR platform canopy, not only survive the latest rebuilding, but also receive an extension in keeping with the original architecture. It is seen here at dawn on Tuesday 26th November 2013, the new framework having been erected the previous weekend. © David Glasspool
