Faversham

Class 47 No. 47618 ''Fair Rosamund'', wearing InterCity Executive livery, was seen departing Faversham,
fronting the 09:00 Willesden to Dover Western Docks cross country service, complete with BR Mk 2a
carriages in tow. The locomotive was scrapped in August 2007. This view shows to good effect the
extent of the public lattice footbridge and the complex approach to the platforms. © John Horton

Another view from the 1959-commissioned ''power box'', but this time eastwards, shows a formation of three
4 Vep units leaving the station, embarking on the line to Dover Priory via Canterbury East. The landscape seen
here is of much interest: in the stabling sidings on the right are BR-designed EPB units, whilst in the background
can be seen the surviving engine shed and wagon repair building. The goods yard formerly occupied the grass area
seen in the distance, above the rear vehicle of the EMU formation. The extent of the track work here can also be
appreciated. © John Horton

Electro-Diesel No. 73110 was seen arcing considerably when it passed through Faversham with a coast-bound
Orient Express working. Of note are the coal hopper wagons on the right, and on the far right, the tapered
buildings of brewers Shepherd Neame. © John Horton
